IntoPlantz is New Zealand’s online marketplace for plants. We are a platform to buy, sell, collect and connect to a community of plant lovers and enthusiasts. We aim to grow together with you.
HOW DID WE START
Joel and Melissa are just regular people who have plants. Like many of us, they have succulents, few flowering plants and some evergreens around their house. Thanks to their generous family and friends, they have started accumulating houseplants which exposed them to the wide community of plant-lovers. In short, they are ordinary couples in the neighbourhood with knowledge and interest learned and developed from people’s advice, the internet and the FB groups that they have joined.
The entrepreneur side of the story happened when Melissa started thinking of ways to expand their small business in Hamilton to help with their finances when she goes to maternity leave. The couple went through a lot of brainstorming, reflection and offered prayers. A thought came to Joel one night about an online marketplace that will cater to the increasing community of plant lovers as seen in social media platforms.
Aware that they need to establish a website, they tapped on friends Allen & Pam to help on the technical and marketing side of stuff. And as one of their goals is to establish an interactive community, Aldrin and Jocel’s knowledge in research and writing will be a great help. The group was established and had their first meeting in June, 2021. IntoPlantz was registered as a company on the 16th of August 2021.
